Focus on: Koh Samui
Koh Samui is the third largest Thai island, with only Phuket and Koh Chang
being larger. The island is located approximately 700 km south of Bangkok
in the province of ´Surat Thani´.
Koh Samui has many fabulous beaches, including; Chaweng, Lamai, Bophut, Big
Buddha, Choeng Mon, Hua Thanon and Maenam. Samui also has many smaller sister
islands - Koh Tao is one of the top diving islands in Asia.
Also of interest is Koh Phangan, Koh Tan and beautiful Koh Nang Yuan.
To the west of the island is Angthong National Marine Park, a chain of small islands covering 102 sq km.

| 1.    | Always negotiate a rate with your taxi driver before getting into the vehicle - many driver do not use a meter. | |
| 2.    | If you intend to use your mobile phone, ensure it is suitable for the region. If you intend using your phone to coordinate with members of your party it's well worth considering buying a local SIM card. These can be extremely cheap and come with call credit. Again, ensure your phone can accept any SIM. | |
| 3.    | When shopping always haggle. Any price you are given can be haggled down, whether your in a street market of or a shopping centre. |
